Today, I am thrilled to share the enchanting love story of Flavia and Toto, captured through my lens. As we step into the magical world they created amidst the whispering trees of the woods, I’ll let the radiant bride herself guide us through their journey and the unforgettable moments of their woodland wedding. Join us as we delve into the ethereal beauty and heartfelt moments of their special day.
We are Flavia and Toto, we are both 35 years old and work as lawyers and engineers respectively in Milan, Italy.
In the following lines we will try to summarise our story.
We met in the hot summer of 2019 in Sicily (Italy) during a mid-August holiday party held in a rustic and intimate outdoor venue in the middle of nature. Stylish place, close to the sea but far enough away from the noise of the city.
It was love at first sight! Three days after that meeting, we decided to set off by motorbike to Sardinia. It was a magical week!
Our first holiday together.
But once the holiday was over, we returned to the city where each of us lived. Toto in Milan and Flavia in Rome.
For the first six months, from the first meeting, we could only see each other a couple of times a month, at weekends. Then, the stop due to Covid prevented us from seeing each other for five months! That pandemic, in 2020, really tested our resilience as a couple. But having passed the test, we decided to start living together in Milan. In 2021, in fact, Flavia left Rome to move to Milan.
We started our cohabitation under the banner of frequent trips, a bit everywhere, because we basically liked to experience, once and for all, the way we had started our story, that is, under the banner of a motorbike trip to Sardinia when we were still strangers.
But then came the decisive trip to Mexico in 2022, where I received a marriage proposal. It was a special proposal, in a place very similar to the one where we met. A rustic but stylish restaurant, close to the sea, and intimate. A place that reflected us, perfect for saying that fateful YES.
Ever since, we couldn’t wait to make that promise solemn. So in 9 months, and at a distance, we managed to organise the magical wedding that reflected us.
The bride’s makeup was simple, not very bright. Naturally wavy hair was gathered in a soft low bun (with a few falling locks). Crystal earrings (Swarovsky) showy but not heavy.
Optical white wedding dress (Marchesa for Pronovias), very simple but at the same time extremely elegant.
What made the wedding gown unusually special and perfect for an enchanted woodland wedding was undoubtedly the veil chosen, namely a cape-like hooded cape having small white feathers around the face. A choice that made the wedding even more magical.
Jimmy Choo glitter shoes.
Same simplicity and natural, timeless elegance for the groom.
The wedding ceremony took place in an ancient church in Piazza Armerina and was very exciting and fun at the same time, considering Flavia’s very lively nature.
Still the bride is speaking:
Our wedding took place in a coniferous forest (an intimate, rustic and stylish location), where long, convivial and at the same time intimate tables were placed among the trunks. As far as possible, we simulated the style of the location where we met.
We chose imperial tables in the middle of a magical coniferous forest, topped by antique chandeliers.Everything took place on a perfect autumn day (06.10.2023), with typical summer temperatures.
For tables and decorations we chose an autumnal style, pastel colours in shades of sage green and burnt earth. We decorated the wooden tables with seasonal fruit (nuts, grapes, chestnuts, pomegranates, small pumpkins etc.), flowers and delicate feathers in the centrepieces.Clear crystal mise en place with sage green napkin, personalised place cards and olive branch.
The area around the forest was organised with some recreational areas decorated with carpets, sofas, floor lamps. A fantastic peacock also roamed the estate where we were celebrating. We chose seedlings in a jar as wedding favours.
The wedding reception, to the rhythm of a band playing rockabilly/jazz, was full of warm and heartfelt congratulations for us. It was a magical, dancing lunch, to the delight of the guests for our union.
As I reflect on the breathtaking wedding day captured amidst the enchanting woods, I’m filled with a sense of awe and gratitude. Being able to witness and document such magical moments filled with genuine love, joy, and emotions is truly a privilege. The ethereal atmosphere of the forest added an extra layer of enchantment to the day, making it an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. From the tender glances exchanged between the newlyweds to the laughter shared among family and friends, every moment was a testament to the beauty of love and the power of connection. As the sun set and the stars twinkled overhead, I couldn’t help but feel grateful to have been a part of such a special day. Here’s to many more moments of magic and love in the years to come.
